Research and Advocacy

One of Arts Hub's purposes is to develop data and research to help artists advocate for themselves and so we can advocate to foundations, governments, and other systems-level entities to direct resources where they are needed most.

Below you can find our two State of the Arts reports. Each one was developed after a year-long arts and culture assessment process. The reports details to results of those assessments and our recommendations based on data collected from local artists.

2026 State of the Arts

This report was released in 2026 as a result of a year-long assessment of the Albuquerque arts sector. In collaboration with the community and professional evaluators, we engaged in a series of surveys, interviews, and focus groups. We asked artists what the Albuquerque arts scene was like, what is missing, and the barriers they experienced. A key takeaway? Changes at the systems-level are needed to help artists and arts organizations thrive.

2020 State of the Arts

This document details findings from our very first arts and culture sector assessment in Albuquerque. Through a series of surveys, interviews, and focus groups artists told us what was great about the Albuquerque arts community, what was missing, and what they need to thrive. A key finding from this assessment was that artists needed learning and support for the business side of their art practice.
